Community Update – Leadership Concerns at JIAR

Dear Community Members,

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

We are sharing this update with a heavy heart, but also with a sense of responsibility to keep our community informed about matters affecting the future of our Jamaah.

🕌 Imam Leadership Crisis

  • Imam Hisham’s contract officially expired on November 30.
  • JIAR currently has no officially appointed Imam, leaving the Jamaat spiritually and institutionally vulnerable.
  • Despite prior approval and clarifications, the contract was not renewed.

📅 Overwhelming Community Support Ignored

  • 420+ community members signed a petition requesting renewal.
  • A delegation led by respected community members requested a special meeting.
  • The meeting was agreed upon to discuss the Imam’s contract.
  • The Chairman did not attend and did not notify the delegation.
  • The meeting proceeded without him and was described as chaotic and unproductive.
  • Multiple follow-up requests have since been avoided or discouraged.

⚠️ Board Resignations & Loss of Confidence

  • Br. Hatim resigned earlier due to personal reasons.
  • Br. Aslam resigned two days ago citing serious governance concerns:
    • Misrepresentation of facts to the community
    • Slander and misinformation, including against a woman volunteer
    • Exclusion from meetings and missing minutes
    • Decisions made without transparency or accountability
  • His resignation clearly reflects a loss of trust in leadership and governance.

📉 Additional Signs of Leadership Breakdown

  • Leadership vacuum and uncertainty at Al-Misbah Quran Academy
  • Lack of vision and foresight in educational leadership decisions
  • No clear or communicated plan for Ramadan, which is approaching rapidly
  • Growing concern from parents, volunteers, and congregants

Multiple community members who attended recent meetings have shared deep concern about tone, conduct, and lack of answers. These testimonies point to a pattern of leadership failure rather than isolated misunderstandings.

Our Jamaah deserves leadership rooted in shura, transparency, humility, and accountability. Silence, avoidance, and unilateral decisions only deepen the current fitnah.

“O you who believe, stand firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even against yourselves.”
— Surah An-Nisa (4:135)

May Allah guide us to truth, protect our community, and restore unity and trust.

Wassalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh
